Jaws PDF Creator operates in several modes:
It installs as a printer in the Windows® or Macintosh®
Printing System allowing users to 'print' to a PDF file directly
from any application. In this mode Jaws PDF Creator looks to
the user exactly like another printer driver where pre-defined
PDF configurations can be selected.
It appears as an icon on the desktop allowing drag-and-drop
conversion of any PostScript® or EPS file directly to PDF.
For Windows users, a toolbar icon installs in Microsoft Word,
Excel and PowerPoint, allowing any business user to easily create
PDF files. The toolbar icons can also be used to retain document
structures such as bookmarks and hyperlinks from the original
document.
PDF optimization
Jaws PDF Creator ships with three pre-defined configurations
which will optimize the PDF file for high resolution production
printing, printing to desktop devices or publishing on the web.
Users can also define and save custom output configurations.
Documents protected
Business documents such as legal contracts or business proposals
are often confidential and access needs to be restricted in
certain ways. Access to all PDF files created by Jaws PDF Creator
can be limited by giving the files passwords and restricting
certain features, such as printing and editing. Jaws PDF Creator
uses 128-bit encryption in the BSAFE® library from RSA Corporation
to secure PDF files.
Simple deployment
With minimal cost and effort, customers joining the Corporate
Licensing Program can deploy and update Jaws PDF Creator across
a network using administrative network deployment tools. Organizations
can pre-define their standard configuration settings and distribute
the Jaws PDF Creator installer with their 'standardized' PDF
setting across the whole organization. For a full listing of
features available in Jaws PDF Creator v3.0, please check the
technical specifications in the product brochure. For changes
between versions, including what's new in v3.0, please check
the software releases page.
Enhanced color accuracy
Those using Jaws PDF Creator files for high-end proofing and
print production will see greater accuracy in files containing
device-independent CIE-based colors. CIE-based color spaces,
such as CalGray, CalRGB, Lab or an ICC profile, are now stored
within the Jaws PDF file.
